Ambrosia June 2002 marked the world release of Drew Estate's first "Spiced Cigar Blend", Ambrosia. Taking experimental blending to its most extreme dimension, Ambrosia came to life over an incredible journey in search of raw materials necessary in the development of ACID and Natural Cigars. During this time, they discovered exotic native spices from South Asia and Europe and blended them with two very distinct and different classes of tobacco - genuine vintage tobacco leaves from Honduras, and Nicaraguan tobacco leaves grown on their own farm in Esteli from their very first harvest. After 120 days of aging, all of the Ambrosia's "ploomed" while vivid and complex tastes developed. The final stage of curing took place in cedar cabinets for 45 days, where the cigars picked up an aromatic quality, enhancing the already unique spiced flavor. | Connecticut Yankee A taste that hasn't been around for almost 200 years. Connecticut Yankee cigars feature a genuine Connecticut Grown Havana-Seed Wrapper. Neither broad leaf nor shade, Havana-Seed is grown in the Connecticut River Valley, the small piece of land in Connecticut where some of the world's premier tobacco is grown. In the early 1800's this was the predominant plant of choice for the tobacco farmers of that region. Havana-Seed plants were dark and delicious but production dwindled as the Connecticut growers favored the larger, thicker leaves of broadleaf. A very rare wrapper in the cigar world today, Victor Sinclair found a small cache of Havana-Seed aging in an old tobacco barn. By the mid 19th century the Havana-Seed was all but forgotten in Connecticut. Through skillful planning and hard work the Victor Sinclair family was able to obtain this extremely rare wrapper. It is with that piece of American history in mind, that Victor Sinclair Cigars are extremely proud to produce Connecticut Yankee. The genuine Connecticut grown Havana-Seed Wrappers of the Connecticut Yankee have the color of broadleaf, but are much more smooth and oily than broadleaf. The Havana-seed wrapper is then masterfully blended with premium aged Dominican and Nicaraguan long fillers for an unbelievably unique and full bodied taste. |

Specially fermented five year old wrapper leaves are unpacked from the bale and then conditioned and graded. The silkiest, smoothest leaves are then selected and placed in bulks for a second fermentation It is this "second curing" that evens and develops the rosado color of the tobacco wrapper and this also accounts for much of DIAMOND CROWN'S Sweet, smooth, rich flavor. |

| La Vieja Habana La Vieja Habana was Drew Estate's first brand, originally made by Antonio Almanzar in New York City from 1994 until 1996. In 1996 they moved their production of La Vieja Habana to Miami based Nicks Cigar Company. La Vieja Habana received surprisingly high results and acceptance without a dollar in advertising or marketing, receiving big ratings in every national cigar publication, as well as some of the smaller, regional cigar journals. By November, 1998, all of the hard work was finally paying off. Then disaster struck, as Hurricane Mitch ravished Nicaragua. For the second time in 4 years, they were forced to stop production of La Vieja Habana. 2004 brings them to their 6th year of manufacturing cigars in their own factory in Esteli, Nicaragua; their third year of farming; and their third nationwide launch of La Vieja Habana. They believe that their company has always had a fresh approach to manufacturing and marketing one of the world's most traditional luxuries, cigars. La Vieja Habana, because of its role in their company's development, is especially important to them. They had ample time to select and age genuine Corojo wrapper, as well as purchase award-winning tobacco that would eventually turn out to exceed their expectations. If there has ever been a company that believes in the magic of "Small Batch Production," this is it. |

Macanudo Vintage 1997 The History
Since the 1970s, Macanudo Connecticut Shade vintage-quality harvests have occurred only in 1979, 1984, 1988, 1993, 1997 and 2000. The Vintage Cabinet Selections that display those years have been released in different quantities approximately three years after their tobaccos were harvested.
The Cigar
A Macanudo Vintage Cabinet Selection cigar is the ultimate in mellowness and smoothness in two distinct ways. First, the wrapper is the rarest of all Connecticut Shade tobacco leaves. Second, all of the tobaccos used in crafting these extraordinary cigars are aged longer than any others. To set these cigars apart in yet another way, each of them displays two bands – one to identify the cigar as Macanudo Vintage Cabinet Selection and the other to designate the year of the Vintage harvest. As one would expect, the cigars grow in value as they age and become more and more scarce. Since a 1979 Macanudo Vintage cigar is older and more rare than a 1997, for example, the differences in their ages are reflected in their separate prices.
The Expeience
A Macanudo Vintage Cabinet Selection cigar delivers the ultimate Macanudo experience because it is that much mellower and that much smoother than even a Macanudo Café cigar can be. |
